SHORT-TERM PROGRAMME
Professional Barista Programme
Ever wondered what it is like to be a coffee specialist? This barista programme caters for people who want satisfying jobs in preparing and serving specialty coffee.
Learners will have their career options in the hospitality, cafe, food & beverage industries. For example, they can choose to be a Professional Barista, Barista Consultant, Barista Instructor, R&D in Coffee Production or even start their own F&B business.
This barista programme consists of two (2) levels in total.
FOUNDATION IN BARISTA SKILLS & INTRODUCTION TO COFFEE ( 1 DAY )
- This level is designed to introduce core barista skills to people with no previous barista experience. Learners will learn to do a simple calibration of their grinders and make an espresso and cappuccino to core standards.
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL IN BARISTA SKILLS ( 2 DAYS )
- This level is designed to test the core and more advanced skills and understanding that are to be expected from an experienced barista. Learners will get to dial in a brew recipe, make a full range of drinks with quality and speed, as well as understand the basic requirements for customer service and maintenance. We recommend that learners have some previous or current experience as working baristas in the field before attempting this level (SCA recommends 6 months’ experience or more).
